About Us AND OUR AVAILABILITY

Locally Owned and Operated

Flatrock Creamery is a small family-owned creamery and operated by the Loggan family of Milroy, Indiana, and provides the highest quality cream line whole milk products! Our processing plant is right on the farm growing alongside our cows and crops. We process our products in small batches ensuring the highest quality milk reaches our customers. We have done it all when it comes to the dairy industry from milking the cows, delivering milk to larger dairy processors, and now processing our own!

The dairy industry has been our family’s passion for generations. Ted grew up on a dairy farm before a herd dispersal. After the dispersal, the Loggan family ventured into hauling milk for other dairy producers’ full time. A neighbor gave Ted the opportunity to develop his own herd while in his teens. Many of our cow families can still be traced back to those animals.  The story of Ted & Gena’s first meeting even involved a Holstein heifer. The two were introduced by a mutual friend as Ted was washing a heifer at the Marion County fair. Even though Gena did not grow up in a farming family, she quickly assimilated to the farm life. Ted and Gena raised their kids Briley & Blaine right alongside the herd of Holsteins. For Briley’s 3rd birthday, she was gifted a jersey heifer, Molly! Molly ignited Briley’s own love of the dairy industry. Blaine’s passion involved all things farming and tractors from a young age. This led him to being the jack of all trades around the farm from welding and mechanic work.

Our herd of dairy cattle consists of Holsteins, Red & White Holsteins, and Jerseys. Our girls are fed a balanced diet of corn silage, grain, alfalfa hay, vitamins & minerals that is specifically designed for them by a dairy nutritionist. When the weather is permitting our girls can be found out frolicking out in a pasture enjoying the open space, weather, and the added treat of grass! Our premium whole milk is minimal processed, so the products are more delicious and nutritious for you! We low temperature vat pasteurize our milk, which takes more time but leaves the milk with more flavor! The milk is heated at a lower temperature for a longer amount of time, but this process is less damaging to the vitamins and nutrients. Our processing protocol leaves the milk as close to the natural state as possible, but without the risk of microorganisms and bacteria that are killed during pasteurization.  Also, our cows are never treated with any added growth hormones or BST.  The processing plant was discussed as a way of adding additional income stream for the dairy after low prices and high inputs had been the norm for too long. The processing plant was added in February 2022, after 3 long years of planning, and to provide families with delicious and nutritious product. We strive ourselves on providing the highest quality whole milk to our customers.
